Force connection 2

In this week we more learned about force connection, created some ideas by each groups and made presentations. Each group introduced different ideas. It was so interesting to me. My group made 3 different ideas.
1.Umbrella + USB Cable

  • Substitute the material of the canopy of the umbrella.
  • Finial and rib change to solar panels.
  •   Add a power bank to the handle, with retractable USB.
  •  By adding solar panels to the finial, it will be able to absorb the sunlight when the umbrella is opened and turn it into electricity
  • The electricity will then be stored in the power bank at the handle.
People can then use the power stored to charge their phones as a reserve charge. The USB cable is retractable, thus it won’t spoil even when the umbrella is used in the rain.

2.Refillable Lipstick & Perfume

  • Make the perfume bottle refillable.
  • The lipstick container is made refillable.
  • Connect both the lipstick and the perfume bottle.
  • Combine the perfume bottle and lipstick container together. Can be carried around with ease in the bags.
  • Both containers are refillable so you can reuse the containers and save on materials as well as cost.
  • Eco-Friendly materials used.
3. Portable Eraser with Torchlight

  •  Electric Eraser with built in batteries.
  • Can be charged via USB.
  •  Built in flashlight for use.
  • Durable casing body.
  • Lightweight.
  • Portable and lightweight.
  • Easy to use.
  • Emergency light.
  •  Mostly used by students.
  •  Cool factor

Force connection

Force connection is connect 2 different things together, and then invent a new idea of creation.

 Scamper stands for:
  • Combine
  •  Adapt
  • Eliminate
  • Substitute
  •  Modify
  •   Put other uses
  •  Rearrange

There are a lot of things that made by force connection. For example, our a smart phone having many forced connections, it is so useful for our life, we can communicate for each other, see news from the internet, play games, look calendar, write note on the phone, see maps, take a photo and video, use a phone light, set an alarm, watch videos and movies etc, all these things constituted to a smart phone.

These are a few pictures depict about force connection:

ANALOGICAL THINKING 2

What are metaphors and similes?

Metaphors and Similes are closely related, it is smart to understand the differences. These two are thinking strategies that provide new ideas for problem-solving by making associations between objects that seem dissimilar.
·        A Metaphor is figure of speech that uses one thing to mean another and makes a comparison. (is)
·        A Simile compares two different things in order to create a new meaning. (like, as)

For example:

Metaphor

In week 8, we did some analogies (quick quiz) in the class. Then there were a lot of interesting questions we needed to find out which third word is relationship of given 2 words. Furthermore I found that many words I don’t know and never heard about those words.
1.      Slapstick-/noun/ broad comedy characterized by boisterous action.
2.      Clandestine-/adj/ characterized by, done in, or executed with secrecy or concealment.
3.      Dirge-/noun/ a funeral song or tune, or one expressing mourning in commemoration of the dead.
4.      Frond-/noun/ large, finely divided leaf.
5.      Cacophony-/noun/ harsh discordance of sound.
6.      Aerie-/noun/ the nest of a bird of prey, as an eagle or a hawk.
7.      Capricious-/adj/ subject to, led by, or indicative of a sudden. Odd notion or unpredictable change.

Analogical thinking

Analogical thinking is one of ways to solve problems. It is a comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structures and for the purpose of explanation or clarification. Analogical thinking components with personal analogy, direct analogy, symbolic analogy, fantasy analogy.

In this week, we had classroom activity that is drawing emotion such as happy, sad, angry, depress, fear and anxiety on inanimate objects. I have chosen a candle, a cup, a pencil then I tried to show different emotions for them.

LATERAL THINKING

Lateral thinking is finding way to problems through an indirect and creative approach, using reasoning that is not immediately obvious and involving ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step by step logic. The term developed in 1967 by Edward de Bono.
Lateral thinking techniques:
  •  Alternatives: how to use concepts as a breeding ground for new ideas. Sometimes we do not look beyond the obvious alternatives.
  •  Focus: when and how to change the focus of your thinking. You will learn the discipline of defining your focus and sticking to it.
  • Challenge: breaking free from the limits of traditional thinking. With challenges, we act as though the present way of doing things is not necessarily the best.
  •   Random entry: using unconnected input to open up new lines of thinking.
  •   Provocation and Movement: generating provocative statements and using them to build new ideas.
  •  Harvesting: capturing your creative output. At the end of a creative-thinking session, we normally only take note of the specific ideas that seem practical and have obvious value.
  • Treatment of ideas: how to develop ideas and shape them to fit an organization or situation.

MIND MAPPING

Mind map was first popularized by British popular psychology author and television personality Tony Buzan, the use of diagrams that visually map information using branching and radial maps traces back centuries. Mind mapping is graphical way to represent ideas and concepts. It is a visual thinking tool that helps structuring information, helping you to better analyze, comprehend, synthesize, recall and generate new ideas.
How to create mind mapping:
  •  Note taking
  •   Brainstorming
  •   Problem solving
  •   Memorization
  •  Planning
  •  Researching from multiple sources
  •  Presenting information
  • Using your creativity                                                                                                                              There is lot of way to make mind mapping.

 Examples of mind mapping:
In week 5, each group created mind map about “how does education fit with your dreams of happy life?”

This is our group’s mind map, we have thought that good education, and mindset, health, family, social, hobbies, and religion are most important things for our happy life.
I have seen there are many good ideas from other groups' mind maps, and drawing ways are different and interestingly.

Brainstorming(part2)

In creative thinking class we had a group activity that teacher gave us a several topics for brainstorming. Every group has chosen different topics and we had to find 101 ways and using our imagination for problem that we chose. Our group’s topic is different ways for breaking a glass. Besides, we needed to choose more surprising and interesting 20 ideas. Then present them on front of the class each group.
I think it was so fun, because everyone has created different ideas for example, breaking a glass to blend it in blender, shoot a laser at it and cut it with glass cutler etc. I have learnt that there are a lot of methods to solve problems. Therefore, group works are so helpful for our life, such as learning from other students and exchanging ideas. Moreover, we have learnt how to make a presentation clearly and confidently.

Brainstorming(part1)

Brainstorming is group or individual activity to find a conclusion creatively for specific problems by list of ideas spontaneously. There are number of techniques for brainstorming such as free writing, listing, clustering, mapping.
In group there will be a lots of ideas come out from each person for problem, because everyone thinking differently some may be same ideas or unnecessary ideas or generate ideas. Besides there would be crazy ideas, some might be you have never heard about like a unique ideas. Write down all ideas then decide which one is good, interesting or which is useful for your topic. This is better way to find a solution. Sometimes brainstorming can be help for collaboration improvement.
There is also way to develop your experience by brainstorming. When you do brainstorm by yourself, you don’t have to worry about other people’s opinion, just make a list what is your ideas in your mind. It can be help you to more confident for yourself. Individual brainstorming is most effective when you need to solve a simple problem, group brainstorming is often more effective for solving complex problems.
